About DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731

DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 is the default model in free-pi. It is a sparse mixture-of-experts model from DeepSeek with 13B active parameters out of 284B total. DeepSeek describes this re-post-trained revision as suited for coding, reasoning, and agent workflows. It became available in July 2026.

The model takes text in and produces text out. Its context window is about one million tokens, and it can write up to about 131,000 tokens in a single response. It supports reasoning, including a reasoning effort setting, as well as tool calling and structured outputs. Tool calling is what lets a coding agent act on your project: in free-pi the agent can read and edit files, run commands, and use free-pi's built-in web search and documentation lookup tools.

It scores 69.1 on the Artificial Analysis Coding Index, 41 on the Agentic Index, and 34.3 on the Intelligence Index. On Design Arena it ranks 31st in the SVG category.

In free-pi this model is free to use with no API key and no card. It counts as 1x usage, which is the baseline the other models are compared against, so it is the model to use when you want your daily allowance to last.

When to pick it

For everyday coding that should last the whole day, pick DeepSeek V4 Flash. It handles edits, debugging, and multi-step agent work while using your allowance at the baseline rate. That is why it is the default.

For the strongest results on a hard task, pick a premium model such as Claude Sonnet 5.5 or GPT-6.1 Sol; they use your allowance much faster. To show the model images, pick DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, which accepts image input but also uses allowance faster.
