/model claude-haiku-5.5About Claude Haiku 5.5
Claude Haiku 5.5 is Anthropic's small, fast model for high-volume, cost-sensitive work such as summarization, subagents, and browser use. It succeeds Claude Haiku 4.5 with stronger coding and computer use. It became available in October 2026.
It accepts text, image, and file input and produces text. The context window is 1,000,000 tokens, and a response can be up to 128,000 tokens. The model supports reasoning with an effort setting, tool calling, and structured outputs. With tool calling, the free-pi agent can read and edit files, run commands, and use free-pi's built-in web search and documentation lookup tools.
It scores 43.4 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. On Design Arena it ranks 10th in 3D, 13th in game development, 14th in data visualization, and 21st in UI components, which are front-end and visual coding tasks.
In free-pi it is free to use with no API key and no card. It counts as about 0.5x usage, so it uses your allowance faster than the default but far more slowly than the premium models.
When to pick it
For an Anthropic model that does not drain your allowance as fast as Sonnet, pick Claude Haiku 5.5. Its Intelligence Index score (43.4) is higher than the default DeepSeek V4 Flash (34.3), and it reads images and files, which makes it a good fit for screenshots, PDFs, and front-end tasks. At about 0.5x it lasts roughly half as long as the default.
For the strongest Anthropic results, pick Claude Sonnet 5.5, which has a higher Intelligence Index score (56) but uses your allowance quickly.
